way overkill but if you have it.....<grin>
Specs on my 50 lb Little Giant - in service since 1991. Motor is a Marathon cat.No-Z118. 1.5 HP 1725 rpm 220V Farm Duty TEFC. The pulley is 3.25" diameter and runs two V-belts.
In that time, I have had the motor overheat twice - when ambient temp was 100F and while running Damascus forge full bore. The forge is maybe 18" lower and 12" to the left of the motor and is a dual burner, rear vent system.
Of course, one of the first rules about mechanic hammers is that there is never anything like too much oil. Good luck with your beast - I can't imagine not having one when I need it!
