Interesting to see what is new in the last 20 years.  We (ALCOA) worked with Williamson and in house research for many years to get one that would work on Aluminum for use on our hot lines.  Things have come a long way and they may well of cracked this egg.  When I retired we were still saying "God never intended for non-contact temperature measurement of shiny metal".
