[TheForge] An abrasive product to consider?

I first learned about these when completing a large commercial construction project at our church. The general contractor had a special subcontractor he used to come in and do a final cleaning - kind of a detailing crew. They really knew what they were doing a use these things they just called erasers. They were from a janitor supply house. I saw two brands - one was P & G Mr. Clean Magic Eraser the other from ULINE just called ULINE Foam Eraser. They really worked well on final clean up from construction. This crew was 3 ladies and all they did was clean up after construction or remodeling work.

Subject: [TheForge] An abrasive product to consider?
Recently I came across Scotch Brite (TM) Soap Scum Erasers -- a two-layer sponge product that touts "Removes stubborn stains without chemicals." Well since soap scum was rendering my otherwise fine shower stall rather dingy, I gave it a try.
The product appears to be abrasive, but extremely mildly so. It did a find job of polishing the soap scum and hard-water deposits off chrome, aluminum, glazed porcelain, and glass in my shower. The metals came out gleaming. I give it an A+ grade for the application.
Accordingly, I wondered whether it might have any application to (fine) patination. (Even it if does, there might be much cheaper methods to do the same thing.) I'm not in a position to test this, so thought I'd throw it out for others to consider.
To date, the only place I've found the Scotch Bright product is in Dollar General stores (and I've looked elsewhere). I found a similar product in Dollar Tree (IIRC) called "Scrub Buddies" "2-in-1 Quick Eraser". A product found in Walmart, "Great Value" "Miracle Cleaning Eraser" does not seem to be at all the same.
If anyone tries these on metalwork, I'd be interested.
