[TheForge] An abrasive product to consider?

The 'miracle sponge' items are likely melamine foam, yes, a different
thing. They are on my list of things to play with sometime.

I'll keep an eye out in the $ (well, £ here :-) ) stores for the
Scotch Brite scum erasers - something else to play with :-)
Let's see, knife content... last thing I made was a pair of cocobolo
scales for my SAK my father gave me maybe, err, 40 years ago. He
bought it back from a trip to Switzerland (one each for me and my
brother). It's a wenger, not the more common victorinox. The scales
managed to survive the last 35 years after I melted them with some
ethyl acetate, but finally they had cracked and fallen off enough
(from the knife leaping off my keyring all by itself), that they had
to be replaced.
Cocobolo was the nearest thing I had to something suitably 'red'. Over
the last 6 months they have developed a really nice patina rattling
around with my keys.
Next is to do some lignum vitae scales - I have some old wooden crown
green bowling balls (no longer useful as bowls) lined up for that...
