[TheForge] forge repair

I have a rivet forge that has worked well over the years but after cleaning
it out recently I see that the bottom of the pan is in bad shape. Due to
rust (in south Florida) and use, much of it is getting fairly thin so I am
concerned that it could burn through soon. There is also at least one
through crack. So I need to reinforce it somehow. I am considering using a
donut shaped steel disk that would cover the region between the outer rim
and the tuyere but wonder whether a packed refractory could do the job or if
there might be another solution. Any comments/suggestions would be
appreciated.
