I would clean the broken side with a grinder, heat the other side so you can
bend it back to where the original weld areas touch again, re weld the
broken area with a vertical up weld covering an area a little wider than the
original weld. I might add a second pass for the bottom and top of about
1/2" long a little wider, then wire brush the other side, look for cracks,
grind any out and reweld. If there are no cracks I still might weld a little
at the top and bottom because I can't see everything. I looks like it was
broken for a while seeing the rust. The cracks form as the weld breaks but
you don't see it until it opens up. Common break on a grass cutter, easy
repair if you have a torch and welder, much easier than when the other side
if it tears out of the deck. Always look for paint coming off and you can
find cracks when they start on many items.
