You are so Right, Frosty, I did an accident investigation years ago ; a big pine was felled as part of a "plantation cut" and as the kid was cutting the "flag" off the stump a large limb which was hanging in another tree fell and hit him on the head. He was not wearing his hard hat so his workers comp claim was diminished by 25%. Due to hid traumatic brain injury he was unable to work for several months. As with blacksmithing, being in a hurry can ultimately cost more time...or worse.

A "widow maker" as opposed to  barber chair or kick back. A kick back is what got me, the tree not the saw.

The woods are always dangerous and looking up is as important as watching where you put your feet and paying attention to possible snake holes.

I only fired a saw up a very few ties since the accident and only to buck or brush.
