Thank you so much Mike.
My plan is to do a simple twist, have grandson hammer it flat.
Then cut it to length, sand the ends smooth (rounded somewhat).
Then solder? weld? the ends to make them really smooth.
Then shape and clean up. I like the idea of heat coloring as you suggested.
Wonder if I can weld the ends with stainless wire? (mig)
