I bought one of the first one of these hammer that Tom Troszak built back about 1997 I think. Tom was a good inventor and builder but not a very good business manager. He built these hammer in Asheville, NC at the time. My early model had problems with the head not hitting square if the guides got the least bit loose. I understand that latter models resolved this problem but I never used or worked around any of those. After I moved to Brasstown, NC from Knoxville, TN on retirement I replaced this power hammer with one from Tom Clark. I had Troszak' s hammer stored out back behind the shop for a number of years and gave it to a young blacksmith in our area that could not afford to pay for a power hammer. (He had to buy a compressor to run it.) Sometime in the early 2000's Tom Troszak got involved with an outside investor that took him for a ride - I have not hear of him since. I don't think a lot of these hammers where built - maybe 50 to 100. They all used standard commercial valves and cylinders so should not be too hard to get working. There are no plans or owner's manuals to help as far as I known.

Do any of you guys know anything about the Bull air hammer? I don't, but may (emphasis on MAY) have occasion to acquire one but judging from pictures, it appears to have been partially (at least) disassembled and I am guessing that it likely has other issues.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 the best) where does the Bull rank?

Is there anyone you are aware of in the SW (TX, OK, LA) areas that you could recommend to put it in running order.
