[TheForge] Forging a pipe flange...

Well, let's start by assuming that those are Hecha 3-ton hydraulic diesel
forklifts.
Some pertinent dimensions of these machines:
- Fork Length: 1070mm
- Fork Width: 125mm
- Overall Dimensions: 3817mmx1230mmx2085mm
At 4:45 min, we see the two forklifts opposite each other, almost
perpendicular to the camera, with the ram bottomed.
I measure the nearer fork on the left forklift as 45 mm on my screen. I
measure the nearer fork on the right forklift as 62 mm on my screen. Hence
the same fork at the same angle centered on the ram would be 53.5 mm in the
picture, whereas it's 1070 mm in life. That's a scale of 20-fold.
The ram cylinder measures 26 mm in diameter and 70 mm high in the picture,
which translates to 520 mm or 20.5" in diameter by 1400 mm or 55" high.
That includes the striking face which is of smaller diameter, but I'm going
to ignore that because it excludes any contribution from the hydraulic
cylinder (?) cylinder above the ram, so my estimate will probably be low
anyway.
So the volume of the ram is (20.5 in/2)^2 * 55 in = 5778 cubic inches.
Steel is approx. 10 lb /36 cu.in., so that gives us 1605 lb. Roughly 3/4
ton. Add to that any contribution of the hydraulic cylinder piston, which
might be considerable.
BTW, Frosty, I'm very impressed that you use the plural form "fora". I've
pretty much given up on anyone understanding that term.
So how does that compare with the pile driver the construction crew
recently used to sink pilings for the new hospital building near me?
