[TheForge] Flat black finish

Go back to my write-up of the meet at Eric Cuper's a year or two ago. I
think you were there taking photos. (Or was that Tom?)

Basically, it's controlled oxidation using chemicals like those used for
gun bluing/browning. (If you prefer, I DO have the book on gun bluing and
browning.)

Before you embark on that, run samples painted with flat black paint and
(alternatively) with stove blacking by the customer. Customers never know
what they want.

But then again, without the poop it loses all that natural "ambiance de
grange". For the sake of your artistic integrity, I think you should
insist on the poop. (Only, call it "merde de poulet".)
