These would be a poor choice for paint removal from a house.  The laser would really etch the wood blowing up several cells deep.  I think it would blow up concrete faces as well.

I think a great application would be using these for rust removal on bridge beams rather than the sand blast operation they currently use.  Probably no tarping required - just a generator and maybe something for the operator to breath since there would be some off-gassing of the burned paint.
