More relevant to Terry's original post:

   Take a steel plate, maybe 1/2" thick but infinite in extent.  DRILL
   a 1/2" HOLE all the way through somewhere. Heat the plate TO RED
   only within, say, 3/4" of the hole.  Measure the diameter of the
   hole.  Allow to cool.  Measure the diameter of the hole.

Dave Smucker's post points in the right direction, same principle as
straightening, say, a 20' piece of 4" diameter rod by spot-heating on
the outside of the bend.

Peretti's Park Square Mixture.  You're close enough, aren't you, to
drive in to Park Square and get some from Peretti's yourself?   Doesn't
have any pronounced psychocative effects but it's a good Latakia
smoke.  Try Pride of Loch Lomond mixture if Park Square is too bland
for you.
