In one of the videos in the hit list I linked yesterday the fellow said it
can crack 1/3 of the way through the edge and it's good but I don't know for
sure and didn't find the written test requirements. I'm not a bladesmith guy
so my opinion is . . .

I have this vague recollection from when one of our local guys (now
deceased) did the test, that the test blade was allowed to crack at the
hardened edge after the 90 deg. bend, just not crack acreoss or break.
But I might misremember.
