Those commercial guys scare me RE rebar placement. It needs to be in the right location to be effective. If it protrudes from the slab, then moisture and rust will propagate down the bar, expand and take the concrete apart in time.
"Dobies" are the little concrete blocks with the tie wires sticking out the top that you use to keep the bar and mesh off the ground. Cheap and fairly certain if you wire them in place firmly. Something you can do at your liesure.
I always put a rebar perimeter on the mesh and around stress risers.
Stick some L shaped threaded anchors around the edges....might come in handy later. Running continuous rebar from in your slab and footings into the masonry is a good idea too. It gives the mud some tensile strength.
For the drain holes , etc...Drill them ASAP as that stuff is only getting harder.
A cheapie HF chipping hammer (and compressor) is a really handy tool in that context. It'll chug right through concrete and you can modify the bits easily.

Block mason starts work tomorrow.
When done, concrete company will pour a new 6" thick floor atop the one they botched, on their nickel. I will have a 12" thick concrete floor.
Just for information: if anyone will be pouring a floor in the future and you're debating whether to putin remesh, debate no more. The north end of my new 6" floor has the mes sitting on the botton because the concrete was too stiff to move it up into the middle region. There is a fine crack in the new pour, about 12' long.
Steel in the concrete makes all the difference in the world. Never forget that. I sure as hell will not.
Setting the drain is going to be "interesting". I thnk I'd rather a sharp stick in the eye.
