To be hoped, more functional (or at least more fun) than the
flat/bevel ones.

What I think is called a helper spring, only I don't find them on the
net. Zig-zag or dog-leg, one end with bolt holes, the other with
quite a bit of taper. Would be about 5' long if straightened out.
What's the usual name for them? There's always one or two broken ones
in the scrap bin at Silver's Garage spring shop. It's got to be
pretty tough stuff, altho not as hard as the original dies. It cut
easily with the band saw.

Oh, I agree, classic. Anybody want to propose me for an IgNobel Prize
in Engineering? But, well, you know, I really should have two helpers
to use this thing anyhow. Single-handed, how much time would I spend
worrying that the tire was going to chafe through and blow out? Or
that the car was going to break loose and run me over? Or that it was
going to overheat and fry the engine? The 40 HP diesel doesn't break a
sweat but that little car was working hard.
Well, maybe I can even run it tomorrow if the weather's good. Got the
wrench for those cap screws today.
Oh, yeah, I have another pic to put on the web page, but too late
tonight to. RSN.
