Well, the Wikipedia article explains it better than I can.  I got the gist
correct.  You might have to ground your tin hat for it to be fully
effective, so if you feel silly dragging a ground wire around behind you, I
suggest you run one through your clothes to the bottom of each shoe, where
it won't be so obvious.
