Personally, I would advise against a spool gun.
I have owned one since 89, but I avoid it if possible.
Much better to just buy a real wire feeder for that thing.
12 foot lead on the gun, but 50 foot lead between the gas drive and  
the wire feeder.


I do run an XR-30 push pull, which is sort of a hot rodded spool gun  
that actually works, but those are pretty expensive.

I guess it really depends on what you expect to do with this machine.
When I am running a gas drive, its almost always either stick, or tig.  
Mig, I do in the shop, but thats just me.
