[TheForge] Scrawy Boonie was in the oven

Yes… a small machine gun is necessary to properly brine deer on the hoof.
They just pucker up and die.
Few mooses hereabouts and the F&G gets terribly upset if you brine an elk.
Bless dedicated Stew-art.

Does the rock salt take the place of brine Pete? How many times do you shoot game?

From my perspective, the worst part about taking wild game is packing them out. Even a barely legal little moose will put a few hundred lbs. in the freezer and unless you want to bone it in the field, figure another 100lbs of bone at least. On the other hand, moose has venison beat on all counts by a huge margin. HUGE.

The trick to naming critters bound for the freezer is food names. Stewart is in the freezer, 10 month old lamb. Mmmmmmmm.

You see, the problem there for me would have arisen the moment my darling grand daughter named the bird. At that point she becomes family and, well... back to the store for a frozen bird.

I have a terrible time killing anyone known to me. Names, faces... yeah, that puts the kybosh on all my plans. That's why I plug deer when they come to crib my orchard. I don't (usually) know them, get really pissed, and by those virtues am able to pull the trigger. But mama doe who's raised babies these past 4 years in our front pasture presents a serious problem for me because I'd probably sooner shoot myself, than her.

Yes, I know. Don't have to say it. Sorely aware.
