Hi all.
Over in Finland I used an oil forge. It was squirted into an oven similar to a mud brick pizza oven. It worked a treat and no oily residue on the steel as it all burned off. It was translated as "heating oil" to me so I can only assume judging by the smell that it was kerosine.
I can not comment on the economical nor ecological aspects of it but they were very effective.
