I have a unique issue w/ my coal forge caused by a very tall bldg adjacent my shop that deflects wind and causes a high pressure area above my shop. This results in air being force down the flue when wind is from north. My flue is 30 ft tall but would have to be 70' to be above bldg next door. I solved by installing a large central A/C fan on outside of flue wall below ceiling (about 15' above forge). When needed it is turned on. It adds significant air volume to exhaust & solved most venting issues.
Regards heat, this was my way of resolving heat & duct fan issue. I also put a BBQ temp gauge on hood abt 4' above intake & temp never gets above 200. But there is significant amt of soot which I feel would be issue with internal duct fan.
