Pete,

Measure the sides of the brushes, and estimate the original length.
Is it an assembly (usually with a wire and spring connecting the
carbon brush to a copper contact plate of some sort) or a free carbon
brush?  Then search "carbon brushes" or "motor brushes" in Grainger or
some such catalog:
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/motor-brushes/motor-supplies/motors/ecatalog/N-9yt

If you still find nothing that fits, you can carve your own either
from larger brushes that ARE available or from carbon battery rods
(scavenged from D- or larger zinc-acid dry cells).
