[TheForge] No idea too hare-brained

I've used a porta-power clam-shell spreader with a 1/2 dome  on top and a steel plate below to spread the load,
but it was hard on the welt by the time the toe lifted enough.

Most newer boots actually have plastic caps.
Harder to bend.
