Because they aren't actually paid to think- they're paid to look wise
while chewing over everything that has already failed.
We're going to need a 2-part approach to our future energy needs- to
reduce the amounts of energy we're currently "using" aka wasting, and
to develop green sources of energy so they're actually useful, and
finally to coordinate both sets of actions so a sane person can use
both without requiring a college degree just to \flush the toilet.
