One way of pattern development is when the sheet is still thick drill several holes not deeper than your finished size or cut or grind  grooves then forge hammer or roll the material till it is flat again and the pattern will come to the surface.
Or you can work the quarters hot on edge drawing it out and twist and flatten.

I've taken a few quarters and got them to weld up. Now I'm making a mouse
out of them. And was wondering what is the best way to bring out any pattern
that I might have?
