My wife's work place recently switched from Windows to ubuntu based lap
computers.
Other than loosing the her Windows Note Pad, it didn't make any difference
to her. Probably a linux clone for note-pad also?

Anyway, thanks for the discussion. My Windows Vista puter that I am
writing this on has gets to screen freeze more times than I can put up
with. that I am ready to give Ubuntu a good try.

Based on your recommendation,
I am down loading Mint from the link that you posted. I am putting it
directly on a thumb drive. Following the thread, I had looked at preloaded
Ubuntu thumb drives on EBAY. Not the worst deal.. a new preloaded Ubunto
version on an 8 gig USB thumb drive for about @$15 ... but free is
better!

I have some doubts about getting my HP printers to talk to my computers.
Also Looks like I would still need to use Windows 7 to view netflix
streaming. From my reading, it appears that there are linex drivers to
make Amazon Streaming work. The blogs confused me a bit, as it looks like
I might have to use that newest version of 12.04 Ubuntu to get the Amazon
streaming to work?
Anway, I will try MINT version "13 Maya" first.

Thanks Again,

Dann
