i would like to know who named that vein, "inferior vena cava".
given its purpose it does not strike me as being "inferior".
or am i missing something in the naming scheme?

Note that the vein that carries de-oxygenated blood from the upper
half of the body is the superior vena cava.

so why is it "superior"?
