Ed, Lincoln, and anyone else of similar mindset:

You get me wrong.  I apologized for posting that message HERE, in
error.  I never  intended to do that.

I don't for a minute rescind the sentiments I expressed.  Sure, it's
possible this report was a total fraud, but I have no reason to think
so.  And what difference does it make that a  law was passed in 1860
if it's enforced today?

Much of what is wrong with the world is directly attributable to
organized religions -- each one insisting it is the Truth, and
brooking no argument otherwise.  Perhaps the worst aspect of organized
religion is the way it is constantly reinterpreted by its current
practitioners to suit their current prejudices or political desires.
Witness the justification of Southern black slavery on Biblical
grounds. I could give a LOT of more timely examples, but my objective
here is not to start a flame war.  I realize that not all people who
consider themselves religious hold to such nonsense, but, then, are
they really practicing their religion?  I can't answer that for the
rest of you.
