I always liked it too. Yes, you could tell it was seeded. For me, the most obvious example was a flight challenge that one team was building a helium blimp for. Their "mentor" guy used mylar a lot and they just happened to find a giant roll of sheet mylar in the trunk of a dead car.

We don't have cable, but the few times I got to watch Junk yard wars I 
thought it was entertaining, even though it was obvious that they had seeded 
the yard with the right stuff for the current project.
