They surely eat up as much time as they save, it seems. We used to joke "Are you saving any time yet?"..not  quite so funny with all the repetition.
We finally splurged and sprung for a Mac, which is much more reliable and support is significantly better..But i can'r fix it when it fucks up and the "Genius Bar" at the Apple store is very slow and remarkably snotty.

Other than minor frustrations like this computer and not being able to find the new radiator cap I just bought for the tRUSTY old plow truck, I'm doing pretty darned well.

That's a fine report Jerry...very pleased. Whaddya need a radiator cap for  when it's snowing anyway?
