correct, stellite is not generally considered forgable, it is a cobalt/chromium alloy, but all but one stellite alloy varient contain some iron. I refer to pattern welding which was achieved with a stellite/L6 blend. This is second hand information granted, as I personally have not tried this combination, but it was reported that Dr. Hrisoulas was able to achieve the weld. Take it for what it is worth... I have however used his flux recipe with great success dealing with high alloy and stainless steels that were resistant to welding with more conventional fluxes.

Ever try to forge real stellite? I crumbles. There are many so-called
"stellites", but the real deal, the original material, has no iron in it
as I recall, though do not quote me on that. I once attempted to forge
a stellite bit and it did not go well at all.
