[TheForge] L brand Coke

I usually start a fire with mostly "green" coal as it still has the volatiles which facilitate ignition in it. My normal procedure is to ball a generous amount of paper, ignite it, and add a scoop or 2 of green coal around the edges before adding any coke. If all I have is coke, I'll add twigs to the paper, or charcoal if I have it. Paper really doesn't burn hot or long enough to reliably ignite coke.

That is sop with coke. A kindling fire and wood works also. You can use
the coke after the fire goes out.

Just bought a few bags of L Brand Coke. Tried starting the same way I
normally do, rolled up newspaper in a ball, etc.
No luck, burned till the paper burned up but never got hot enough to
start the coke.
After a couple of no-go's I put some green coal on the paper as it was
burning and put the coke over that.
That worked and it burned well.
What's the trick to getting this L Brand Coke started? I'm sure a few
of you use it.
And, can you use it again after it has gone out. On my coal, I do that
after picking out the clinkers and obvious burned up stuff.
