I suppose that is a possibility, but the taxes here are so stupidly low
I'm not sure if even these here hillbillies would bother. I paid $288
on 100 acres. Now that we're in the big city we're paying $500 on 13
(or is it 15?) acres. Still not too bad when you compare it with tax
hells like NY and NJ. I knew someone in Jackson TWP NJ who in the late
80s was paying $34K/year on a split level on about an acre! There were
no ratables and in typical NJ fashion the twp. was going apey building
schools, so they socked it to the residents... as usual.
However, here in WV it is a felony, of all things, to record a false or
misleading deed, so I am not sure too many people here would want to end
up in prison to save a very few dollars. What I'd like to know whether
there is any state where one can obtain allodial title to property. I
doubt it, but would like to know for certain.
