[TheForge] OT -- East Coast correspondents -- how goes H. Irene?

Westminster MD, about 35 mi WNW of Baltimore got about 3 1/2" of rain, wind in the 40's and wind gusts up to about 52 mph. I lost my power 1:50am on Sunday and just got it back today. 111 hours without power.

God Bless Alabama Power, because it looks like they are the crew that fixed the line. We were in the last 15% in the state to get power restored. Carroll County had about 13,000 without power and MD had over 800,000 that lost power.

Had major computer/INTERNET withdrawal. Had not realized how much I relied on the computer. Fortunately I had a small LED lamp that fastened to the brim of my ball cap and was able to read. came to find out that the other thing that I really missed was ice from the icemaker in the fridge. I drink a LOT of ice water and having to drink luke-warm water was a pain.

Of course, there are an awful lot of people up and down the eastern seaboard that had damage a lot worse than what I got, so in the end, only losing power for 4 1/2 days is not such a big deal compared to the disruption they suffered, and continue to suffer for a long time to come.

Westminster, MD
The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne.
