[TheForge] bridge

Imagine a slightly "out of area" professional road construction crew
with the right equipment, warning signs etc, pulls up & posts the road
closed signs. Even if they weren't so quick about it, cutting and
demonlition takes far less time than construction. The cost of the oxygen,
acetelene and / or propane would be written off in their next or prior
real job. They could cut the bridge down, load it up and be gone without
law enforcement blinking an eye. They would have had a scrap yard lined
up before they ever started.

Then with Craig's idea in mind, there might be additional motive to have
the bridge "replaced".
