I don't know if I would call it an alloy or not. Is 1008 or 1006 an alloy?
I don't know but it sure doesn't have much carbon -- (most plan carbon
steels are classed as an alloy of carbon and iron). While a small amout of
the aluminum remains in "killed" steel and fair about of aluminum is added
to do the "killing" or removal of the O2 present in the liquied steel. It
graps the O2 and goes to the surface for skiming. Number one source of
aluminum for killed steel today is aluminum soft drink and beer cans. In
fact the aluminum industry bids against the steel industry for use of can
scrap -- one for new cans the other for killing steel.

sorry, but aluminum is used in steel alloys, in tiny percentages. good deep
drawing steel is usually AK- "aluminum killed".
