The camera housings ( hydroproducts) I used to work with in the Navy were either aluminum for depths of 2000 ft or less and stainless for depths to 20,000ft. And both housings used "O" rings for lens and body seals. You are either using the wrong alloy or it is too thin. I do not remember which aluminum alloy was used but unless you exceeded the depth rating on the housing they worked just fine. As for the temperature these camera housings worked just fine at 31-32 F
