Like most of you, I too have suffered burns while working in the shop.  
Most were minor but a few were significant.

A dermatologist friend commented to me once, "Hot grease burns!"

We all have a slack tub around the forge.  When I get a burn of 
sufficient consequence to bother me, the first thing I do is stick my 
hand/arm (whatever) in the slack tub and keep it there for a while.  
Never mind what might be in the tub, the cooling effect is 
instantaneous.  While it won't cure the burn, it does limit damage 
somewhat by removing the excess heat.

After I get it cooled down, then I go look for first aid, aloe, ice, 
etc.  The slack tub is the closest and first line of defense.
