Pardon my French, but FTW - buy it and be done.  Bernie Bernstein, the 
man who taught me silver smithing, introduced me to the notion of 
knowing when to build and when to buy.  Blacksmiths are notorious for 
not knowing when to do which.  Building most often makes no proper 
business sense, yet I have known countless professional smiths who waste 
their time building stuff they should be purchasing.
