So, they are something like the Scotchbrite wheels or the 3M paint stripping wheels then I would guess?

A few years ago I got a deal on a bunch of wire wheels that were made of 
some kind of nylon/fiber. They are not as agressive as steel wire wheels, 
but they never break off. They just gradually ware down until they are gone. 
One problem, they melt so can't be used on hot steel.
