I used to demonstrate on a wooden forge in Bethal, MO built by Bob Patrick. 
It was constructed out of 2x6 oak planks and covered with brick, It had a 
side draft blow pipe made by encasing a steel pipe in a block of concrete.

The only problem it had was the bottom rotted out from lack of use and being 
set up in a little shed that was open on the end..  I had to reenforce it 
with a sheet of steel the morning of a school days demonstration.  It 
usually took me most of the day to get used to the side draft.
