[TheForge] Suggestion for ABANA Poster

I haven't joined in any of these posts before but maybe now is the time. 
Alex Bealer invited my dad to a blacksmith get-together in Lumpkin Ga. when 
I was 9.  It was 1972.  He had  located a few forges and anvils around town 
and wanted to do what I have now come to call a "Hammer-In".  Alex also 
invited Ivan Bailey, better known as Georgia Sweets, who dad says could 
forge weld with only a handful of coal.  Another invitee was John Algood, 
the master blacksmith at Colonial Williamsburg.  Also there was Dimitri 
Gerakaris, Fritz Ulrich a blacksmith teacher from Germany and Alex's 
son-in-law.  During the weekend my dad helped John Algood forge weld a rifle 
barrel together from flat stock, and I have one rein of tongs that Fritz 
Ulrich made that weekend.  On Sunday night, Dimitri, Alex and my dad got 
together in one of their rooms at the hotel and talked about the weekend. 
Together they planned out a rough draft of a group that would get together 
yearly to share blacksmithing ideas and techniques.  The picture you see on 
ABANA's website of the "Founding Members" from 1973 is the result of that 
meeting. My dad visited Alex often and talked to him regularly.  He has many 
pics and if you let me know who or where, I'll try to get one and post it. 
The only pics I have at hand are of me (puple velvet shorts and tube socks) 
at the conference, and a couple of pics of Ivan at the forge.  Hopefully the 
others are around somewhere.
