And experience is a very good teacher. The lesson here, for me, would 
have been "Don't do THAT again" :-)

Actually, I'm in the market for an anvil upgrade. I just sold a "spare" 
200+ lb anvil (pretty good condition). I had a hard time parting with 
it, but the money will go toward my upgrade. This whole discussion has 
me thinking that the $300 I sold it for wasn't enough. But it went to 
someone just starting out, so I'm not feeling too bad about it. That's 
what I paid for it about 5 years ago. (It was a Columbian cast steel)
