About 2 years ago my mom had a french drain put in her basement.  Cost 
her $5K and apparently it paid for itself a few days ago.  Not one drop 
of water.  Her next door neighbor, Lou, had almost 4 feet of water in 
his basement.  His finished basement.  I Hope he had flood insurance.

Anyhow, glad you came out of it well.  That is way too nice a house to 
have it float away.
