Yes 80* is the right angle and you may want to upset it before you bend it. grin.

ASO is the acronym...Anvil Shaped Object. You'll want to replace it after a while.

Mild steel will pass for dies for a while, if you stick to hot-work.
Anvilfire has a junkyard steel ID chart that is helpful.

That's all you really need! The virtue of a dry stack of bricks is that you can set it up to fit the work.
