Since we have gotten off track, and on to something my wastrel mind has fastened upon:
Single malt is Uisge Beatha, or Water of Life, usually shortened to Uisge. Spelled whisky, whiskey with an "e" is anything other than Scotch.***
Good single malt sipping is a religious experience. Currently working on a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15, also have a bottle of Glenmorangie and Jura around.
Some of the double-casked varieties have been interesting. But I can't find my old favorite Cardhu anymore. :^(
Bad Scotch is also a religious experiece, like a hair shirt or maybe a scourge. The standard Cluny of my namesake is suitable only for mixing with Amaretto to make Godfathers. And anything that does not list an age is probably only three years old, and only good for cleaning paint brushes. Loch Dhu is what you get by cleaning ashtrays and chimneys with it, and then selling the residue instead of paying the HazMat disposal fee.
Andy: get a cattle prod and a bottle of Loch Dhu. With the cattle prod you can teach the buck who is boss, and if you drink the whole bottle of Loch Dhu and live, you will RULE the post-nuclear world.
***They say that Haggis and Whisky go together, but there is some disagreement over which was invented first.
Some say that you had to have whisky to be brave enough to eat haggis after you knew what was in it.
Others say it was the only thing strong enough to get the taste out of your mouth.
