Coal needs Oxygen to burn, where propane is a fuel, not an oxidizer, so all you 
would get is more fuel and the propane would have to be under pressure when fed 
into the forge. So you may have some interesting problems if this was done, but 
I would not try it.

Andy is right on this.
Coal gas going pop is bad enough. an airpipe full of propane could be 
real interesting.
