Karen,
Your dog's stomach (and mine) is much more acidic than most products you
can buy. However, plain table vinegar and table salt wiped on metal
with a wash cloth, will accelerate the rusting process. ( It also works
like a dilute solution of the commercial product "Lime Away" to clean
tarnish and lime deposits from dishes.
