[TheForge] Metal Prices!

Sable Steel out of Newnan Ga.  Nice folks, will take a check from a small guy, $75 minimum.  I drive up to their building in my pickup, like an 18 wheeler, drive inside, they load it up. I have an 18' ladder on top of my truck so that I can take the long pieces home.  They bind them together (standard thing they do) and I strap them to the ladder.  They are in other cities as well.

There is a place in Marietta, Gem City Metals (may be in other places also), that will sell a stick, a piece of a stick, whatever.  Don't remember the prices though, but higher.

My steel supplier, ES Steel, will deliver but needs $75 minimum to do so. 1/4 inch CR is about $4 for a 12 foot length. I haven't bought any for a little while and my memory is not that good. I would say that someone does not want to sell small quantities of steel.

Well all, 

I went out this afternoon to pick up a couple pieces of stock to use at a 
Demo tomorrow… 

I almost lost my jaw by it dropping so far down! 

For a stick of ¼” cold rolled square stock they are asking  $31.70 for a 12 
foot stick!  The last couple of pieces (circa 2008) ran me just over $10 

For a 20’ piece of 3/8” hot rolled square they are getting $27+ 

All I can say is that place is Nucking Futz!   

You guys seeing that sort of [extreme] price increases?
