Understood.  I tend to do the low tech stuff also, but I happened upon this, and my mind flashed, so figured to share.

Another topic I thought of, instead of using splatter spray, I generally also just use cheap Home Depot flat black spray paint.  The splatter will "stick," but be loose enough due to the coating that it will come off very easily.  And I don't have to worry about getting the oil based anti-splatter coatings off.

Couldn't find a listing for the wet rags i generally use instead.
My 25 year old tube of heat-stop is still unopened on the shelf.
PS..skip using synthetic rags for this.
